Torsional Vibration Suppression in Railway Traction Drives

Torsional vibrations phenomena are self-excited that occur in the wheelset of railway powertrains due to counter-phase oscillation both wheels. Long-lasting events this type may lead catastrophic failures. Therefore, torsional vibration suppression and mitigation methods have drawn significant attention from industry recent few years. Conventional reduce motor torque once is detected. However, can result trip delays. Design which do not compromise traction capability challenging. This paper proposes a novel method using Proportional-Resonant (PR) controller. The proposed insensitive mechanical drive-train parameter variation neither requires adding new sensors wheelset. previous knowledge natural frequency mode but significantly reduces implementation complexity suffered by other anti-vibration methods. Furthermore, will be shown provide reduced sensitivity slip velocities wheel-rail conditions.
